Two students are in a serious condition with another five being treated in hospital after a near drowning incident.
At around 12.30pm two students who were wading at the ocean’s edge got into trouble after the surf pulled them into deeper waters.
Other students attempted to rescue them, however it’s believed they also got into trouble.
At around 5am emergency services responded to calls for assistance after a loud bang was heard and gushing water was running through properties in Neutral Bay.
A large water main ruptured on Alfred St, causing a sandstone wall to collapse.
The footpath also gave way, displacing gas and other essential services.
A man nearly drowned in Coogee today, but was saved by two lifeguards, beachgoers and a doctor.
He was discovered floating face down in the water. Swimmer, Linda Drov was nearby and rushed to assist the man. She had difficulties pulling him to safety and called for help.
